How You Can Save Money with the Umo App or Tap Card
Whether you ride the bus frequently or hardly at all, you could save money by using the Umo app or tap card. Here’s how:
- Create a Umo account and add money to your tap card or Umo app wallet. Visit UmoPass.com or a Customer Service Center to check your account balance and add money.
- Scan or tap to pay each time you board the bus.
- Umo tracks how much you’ve paid so you never pay more than the cost of a Day Pass in a calendar day or a 1-Month Pass in a calendar month.
- Ride and save – it’s that easy!
This behind-the-scenes process is called fare capping.
Who Benefits from Fare Capping?
Fare capping benefits frequent riders by offering the same savings to riders who pay per ride as those who pre-pay and save for a 1-Day or 1-Month pass. It also benefits people who ride less often or who don’t know how often they’re going to ride. You’ll never waste money if you don’t end up riding as much as you thought you would, and if you ride more than you expected you’ll still save. Fare capping is a win-win!
Are you Eligible for Half-Fare?
- Half-Fare cards are available to all Medicare recipients and other qualifying people with disabilities.
- Veterans who receive 50 percent or higher disability benefits are also eligible for Half-Fare.
- Persons with disabilities who need an accessible accommodation in order to ride the bus may also be eligible for Half-Fare.
- Eligibility for a Half-Fare card is not based on financial need.
