About LTD Board Member Gino Grimaldi
During his 45-year tenure in local government in Arizona, Maine, and Oregon, Gino learned the importance of a strong local transit system to the overall health of the community. He believes LTD is an integral part of the Eugene-Springfield Metropolitan Area’s transportation system, and the District’s service area that extends beyond the metropolitan area. Prior to his 2022 appointment by Governor Kate Brown to the LTD Board of Directors, he was on the District’s Budget Committee and had served on the board of directors of the transit agency in Portland, Maine. Before his recent retirement, he served as the City Manager in Springfield where he worked closely with LTD to implement EmX routes in the community and supported the District’s efforts to secure federal funding. Also during his time as City Manager, Springfield adopted its first council goal regarding equity and inclusion, changed the city’s hiring practices resulting in more diverse applicant pools, and staffed the city’s Human Rights Commission. Active in the community with United Way of Lane County, Rotary, Springfield Renaissance Development Corporation, and Willamette Pass Ski Patrol, Gino was named the 2019 Distinguished Citizen by the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce.
