LTD Celebrates Public Safety Officers, Beginning September 15
Lane Transit District is asking for the community’s help to show public safety officers how much they’re appreciated.
Sunday, September 15 – Saturday, September 21 is Public Safety Officer Appreciation Week. Community members are encouraged to take a moment to thank LTD’s public safety officers for the work they do every day.
“LTD has been working hard to hire more public safety officers, mechanics, and bus operators in a massive recruitment campaign. This week is a great time to pause and tell our existing officers how grateful we are for their exemplary work. They keep the public safe and help connect community members to essential services. We are so appreciative of them,” said Jameson Auten, LTD’s Chief Executive Officer.
LTD has 14 public safety officers. They work throughout LTD’s 30 neighborhood (fixed) routes and two EmX routes seven days per week, spanning LTD’s nearly 500 square miles. They’re tasked with everything from keeping the Eugene and Springfield stations safe and fare inspections, to wellness checks throughout the system.
