LTD Celebrates Transit Employees On Monday, March 18

March 11, 2024

Lane Transit District is asking for the public’s help to show bus operators how much they’re appreciated.

Monday, March 18 is Transit Employee Appreciation Day. Celebrated globally, community members are encouraged to give LTD bus operators a “thumbs up” or a thank you card on March 18 to show support for the work operators do every day. LTD has cards available at both Customer Service Centers in Eugene and Springfield.

“While LTD is in the midst of massive recruitment campaign, what a great moment to pause and tell our existing operators how grateful we are for their continued exemplary work. They’ve worked extra hard during this period, connecting our community to essential services. We are so appreciative of them,” said Jameson Auten, LTD’s Chief Executive Officer.

LTD is collaborating with Better Eugene-Springfield Transportation and AARP Oregon on a rally featuring local and regional leaders to honor the operators who help others get where they need to go. This will take place on March 18 at 11:30 a.m. at LTD’s Springfield Station at 355 South A Street.

LTD has 180 bus operators. They travel 30 neighborhood (fixed) routes and two EmX routes seven days per week that span LTD’s nearly 500 square miles. Operators pick up and deliver passengers from 1,300 active bus stops, that include nine neighborhood stations, 60 EmX platforms, 200 neighborhood bus shelters, and two primary hub stations. Annually, they drive LTD’s 30 electric, 58 hybrid, and 25 renewable diesel fuel buses with passenger boardings reaching close to six million.

Information about jobs at LTD is available online.
