LTD Provides Free Rides to Cooling Centers
Starting Thursday, July 4, the National Weather Service is predicting several days with temperatures above 100 degrees and potentially over 110-115 degrees. An Excessive Heat Warning goes into effect from noon Thursday to 11:00 p.m. Sunday, July 7.
Lane Transit District will offer free bus rides to and from designated cooling centers when activated. A full list can be found at: https://www.lanecounty.org/cooling
People in need of this service should inform the bus operator of their destination for a free ride. Free bus rides to cooling centers are only available when the sites are activated.
Passengers are encouraged to dress for the weather, stay hydrated, and consider preventative measures for sun exposure, such as using sun block and a hat.
