LTD's Bike Share Partner Reaches One Million Trips

October 25, 2024

This week, PeaceHealth Rides achieved its highest ridership in six years, surpassing one million trips since the program launched in 2018. These trips covered approximately 1.4 million miles – the equivalent of over 50 laps around the equator!

In April, Cascadia Mobility expanded the program to 450 bikes and into downtown Springfield.

“On behalf of Lane Transit District, I want to offer my congratulations on reaching one million bike share rides! This important milestone affirms the value of shared mobility to our community. LTD is proud to partner with Cascadia Mobility and we look forward to opportunities to increase access to this fun and healthy mode of travel.” said Jameson Auten, LTD’s Chief Executive Officer.

In 2023, there were over 375,000 trips by bike & e-scooter share combined, before the e-scooter share pilot program.

“During the 2023 e-scooter pilot, we had about a 10% reduction in bike share trips, but over 220,000 e-scooter share trips,” said Brodie Hylton, Cascadia Mobility’s Executive Director. “There were challenges with the e-scooter share program overall, but it was useful to understand the utility of different self-service micromobility options. I believe that more shared mobility options, more thoughtfully deployed and better integrated with LTD, could make it easier to get around without a car.”

Looking ahead, LTD, Cascadia Mobility, Lane Council of Governments, the University of Oregon, and the cities of Eugene and Springfield are exploring how to make it easier for people to depend less on driving.
