LTD's Board of Directors Approves STIF-Funded Projects
Lane Transit District’s (LTD) Board of Directors has approved a plan to fund $37.1 million of transit-related projects over the next two years.
Funded by a state payroll tax, the Statewide Transportation Improvement Fund (STIF) was established in 2017 by the Oregon Legislature. It’s specifically for improving, maintaining, and expanding public transportation. LTD is the “Qualified Entity” (QE) for Lane County, meaning its Board must approve its FY26-FY27 STIF Formula Plan before being submitted to the Oregon Department of Transportation.
“Whether it’s adding frequency to bus routes, investing in shared mobility, or enhancing services for older adults and people with disabilities, LTD remains focused on delivering equitable and sustainable mobility options to our region,” said Gino Grimaldi, LTD’s Board President (Subdistrict 1). “"LTD is grateful for the continued support of our community and elected officials."
LTD will direct investments towards 38 projects, including:
· Additional neighborhood (fixed route) bus service: increase bus frequency and span within LTD’s service area. $8 million.
· Modernize bikeshare: partner with local agencies to modernize and upgrade the Eugene-Springfield bikeshare system. $1.7 million.
· LinkLane operations and expansion. Lane Council of Governments (LCOG) will provide expanded rural service between Eugene and Florence, and Florence and Yachats. $772,000.
For many of the projects, LTD will partner with LCOG; cities including Eugene, Cottage Grove and Springfield; Cascadia Mobility; and the University of Oregon.
A complete list of LTD’s STIF projects can be found here. LTD’s STIF Advisory Committee reviewed potential STIF-funded projects and made recommendations before the plan went to LTD’s Board. The plan now heads to the state for a formal review process. Once complete, STIF money will be released to LTD on July 1, 2025.
