LTD’s TouchPass Transitions to Umo Mobility July 1
June 14, 2021
Lane Transit District (LTD) passengers using TouchPass for electronic fare payment will need to begin transitioning to Umo Mobility on July 1, 2021, with all electronic pass users completing the transition by the end of September 2021.
“LTD passengers will continue to enjoy contactless fare payments and mobile fare purchases, in addition to exciting new features like real-time bus information, route maps, service alerts and trip planning tools,” said Cosette Rees, LTD’s Director of Customer and Specialized Services. “In the meantime, passengers continuing to use TouchPass will reload their tap cards and manage their account online at UmoPass.com.”
TouchPass app users can download the free Umo Mobility app from the Apple app store or the Google Play store and then login with their TouchPass username and password. Umo Mobility will transfer purchased passes and account information from TouchPass seamlessly.
Umo Mobility is an electronic fare payment system, allowing riders the flexibility to prepay and reload fare value to a mobile device or tap card. Once an account is set up and fare value is added, passengers can scan their mobile device or tap card at an electronic reader when boarding. Electronic readers are installed on all buses, except EmX, next to the fare box. EmX passengers should keep their device or tap card available to show fare inspectors.
One-month or three-month passes can only be purchased through the Umo Mobility app or loaded onto a tap card. LTD continues to also accept cash and day passes from passengers.
Tap cards compatible with both TouchPass and Umo Mobility are available for purchase at the LTD Customer Service Center at 1080 Willamette St. from 7AM-6PM, Mon – Fri. Each reloadable tap card is $3. Tap cards are activated by setting up an account at UmoPass.com. Passengers can then purchase a pass or add value to their Umo Mobility cash account for future fare purchases.
Electronic fare payment reduces boarding times, improves rider experience, and reduces more than 85,000 non-recyclable bus passes each year.
In 2019, LTD signed a contract with Delerrok to provide TouchPass services. When Delerrok was sold to Cubic Corporation (NYSE:CUB), TouchPass was integrated into Cubic’s Umo Mobility platform.
