Frequently Asked Questions

How do I say Umo?

Umo is pronounced You-Mo.

Will my LTD Day Pass or One-Month Pass on my Umo tap card or app work on RideSource?

No, you need to add money to your Umo account to pay for RideSource. Day Passes and Monthly Passes don’t work on RideSource.

I ride LTD fixed-route buses on some days and RideSource on other days. Can I use the same Umo tap card or app to pay fare on both services?

Yes, you can use the same app or tap card for LTD fixed-route buses, EmX, and RideSource. Fares paid for RideSource services do not count towards daily or monthly bus fare capping. Daily and monthly bus passes cannot be used for RideSource services. Money added to your Umo account balance can be used on fixed-route buses, EmX and RideSource.

Where is the fare reader located on the RideSource bus?

The fare reader is located about five feet straight ahead from the accessible entrance of the bus, about three feet off the ground. When entering through the front doors using the stairs, move toward the seating area; just past the hand rail that runs from floor to ceiling of the bus behind the operator's seat, the fare reader is located to your right.

If you need help, the bus operator can assist you. Just like when paying cash, operators cannot search purses, pockets, or backpacks for a rider’s fare. Convenient fare lanyards are available free of charge at any of LTD’s customer service locations.

Why should I register my tap card and how do I do it?

While you aren't required to register your Umo tap card, we highly recommend it. Registering your Umo tap card allows you to protect the money on your tap card if it's lost or stolen and allows you to check your balance and see recent transactions.

You cannot use both the Umo tap card and the Umo App — you must choose one or the other.

  1. Go to the Umo Passenger Portal (UmoPass.com).
  2. On the Sign In page, click Create Account.
  3. On the Let's Get You Going page, click Register a Card.
  4. On the Register Your Card page, enter your Umo tap card number in the Card Number field, and click Next.
  5. On the Create Your Account page, enter a unique username and create a password.
  6. (Optional) Enter an email address and mobile phone number. (This is helpful in the event of account recovery.)
  7. Once you read the Terms and Conditions, select the check box and click Save.
  8. Once your account is created, you can add money to your account and start riding!
How do I tap my Umo Card to pay fare on RideSource?

To pay your fare with your Umo tap card, hold the card close to the card reader on the bus. It will beep or show a green light to confirm payment. No need to insert or swipe the card — just a quick tap and you're good to go. If you need help using the card, the operator will assist you. Convenient fare lanyards are available free of charge at any of LTD’s customer service locations.

  1. Once you board, position your card within three inches of the Umo reader.
  2. Wait for the green signal and confirmation tone.
  3. Once you get the confirmation signal, you’ve paid the fare.

If your Umo tap card is declined by the reader, check if there's enough money on the card. If not, reload it with more money. If your Umo tap card balance is already enough to pay fare, contact LTD Customer Service, as there might be an issue with the card or the reader.
